If I were an obstetrician, I would carefully wrap up every born-dead baby like you described and send them, one by one, to Dubya and each of the members of Congress who voted for this with a note that says "Now YOU carry this for the next two months." I know one couldn't do that, the parents might want a proper burial or something, but if at least every mother in that situation wrote out their heart-breaking story and sent it to these people, maybe they will begin to understand what they have done.

What a bizarre interchange with a real bitch! I hardly think a person who has such a bug up her butt as that person has any business doing any kind of lobbying or political activist work, because she does more turning people OFF her "cause" than ON. Personally, I really don't think any minority group can make much strides without the support and help of other groups. If, in fact, you were 100% white, one should honor and praise you for working for another group, not attempt to discredit your qualifications! Besides, what a racist, to believe she can determine the ethnicity of a person on the phone. I challenge her to call London and talk to a black person and KNOW that person is black!
I have a friend who is a "mixed blood," half Cherokee and half white, and you wouldn't believe how many people attempt to discredit her and the validity of the poetry and stories she writes, particularly in an academic setting--"Well, you're not a REAL Indian...." Resentment over other people's so-called advantages will get one nowhere. In fact, resentment in general will get one nowhere.
On a slightly different note, I have a friend who is Swedish (I mean, really Swedish, like, he was born in and lives in Sweden), but speaks perfect English, in a very noticeably British accent. When I asked him why he had the British accent (or how he got it), he explained that in his English classes they could choose whether they wanted to have a British accent an American one. "I chose British," he said, "wouldn't you have?" I must say, he has a point there!
