Hey. You're totally right about Legally Blonde II. I was so angry at it because I thought that Elle just really dropped the ball when it came to dealing with the issue - she never marshalled any argument other than, "But don't you love your puppy!?!?!" - and what I loved about Legally Blonde I was that in the end, it turned out that she was really observant, really smart, really paying attention and using her very particular skills in order to see what other people were missing. And there are so many reasons to be active against animal abuse, and none of them were ever brought up...but there were always arguments on the other side. Plus, even if you think it's accurate - I ended up being irritated by what turned into a sort of "my club against your club" thing - Elle calls her backup, and they all gang up together for her...not for the issue, really.

While I thoroughly disagree with your rudely shouting "kiss!" (SIX times?), in fact, I might have been of a mind to get someone to remove you from the theater (you probably had your cell phone on, too), and anyone who continues to want to make this into a GAY movie (and I am gay myself, remember) has a fundamental lack of understanding of genuine HUMAN emotion that has existed since the dawn of time (I get very, very upset by people who think that any love between people of the same gender is homosexual...that's example of HETEROPHOBIA of the worst type), I can most definitely relate to what must have been your EXTREME sadness over how Sam and Frodo actually ended up. That whole thing just wiped me out, even though I KNEW it was going to happen (having read the books, of course). It made me feel better to go back and reread the ending and be reminded that after he had gotten very old (and had fathered 13 children!), Sam ended up being taken over the sea himself, so was ultimately reunited with Frodo. But back to my original comment...we're supposed to help model for others how love doesn't require opposite genders, not make everybody into homosexual. Homosexuality all by itself is just as wrong as heterosexuality all by itself. True love knows no bounds and isn't limited to mere desires of the body (and you don't even have to be of the same SPECIE). If you missed that, then you missed 99% of what Lord of Rings was all about, and with such lack of understanding, must do more to hurt our cause in Washington than you do to help it.

we are totally going to get into a quoting competition, 'cause i have it memorized too. for instance: okay, so you're prob'ly goin', is this like a noxema commerical, or what? but actually, i have a way normal life for a teenage girl. i mean, i get up, i brush my teeth, and i pick out my school clothes. ... or: your man christian is a cake-boy. cher and di: what? murray: he's an oscar wilde reading streisand ticket-holding friend of dorothy. he's gay. ... i could go on all day. honey, you are the best. you've totally cheered me up.
