Hubby an I have been married for 7 years. A friend of ours made us a quilt for our wedding. That means more to me than the crystal candleholders or all the cash. It is the first present that was made just for us as a unit. I will cherish it forever.

I can't believe it's already been a year! Congratulations and continued best wishes. As for complicated quilting -- well, it helps to have some simpler, easier-to-finish projects going when working on a big fancy showpiece. That way you can switch off, not get bored, and feel a sense of accomplishment even when doing just one small area of the "fancy" piece takes weeks. Same as with knitting, really (my current favorite). Also, having enough room to set up an actual quilt frame helps both craft and psyche, I've heard! And maybe you already know this, but if you want the beautiful wedding quilt to last through your grandchildren, you don't let anybody sit or lie down on top of it, do you? This wears the top out enormously fast, as I found to my chagrin with my first quilt. It's only 20 years old but has a few big worn-away gaps where I sat and lay on it for several years studying and reading. Dang!
