sometimes i sit here in canada watching your president and media and wonder... what on earth is going on down there? i mean this like in a truly concerned, serious, baffled tone. and then i worry about our future here too... we're heading into an election sometime soon and our two right-wing nutcase parties have merged and seem to be getting their shit together... what if??? i can't really bear to even think of it. i only hope that the example of the u.s. will warn people a little... but i really don't know!

this may or may not sound kinda out there, but, for your decision making process, have you tried a little meditation? like, an imaginary conversation with the two different organizations where you ask what it's like to work there and whether you'd be happy and whether this is the right job for you and so on... it sounds like a very tough decision and i've found this situation requires help from the universe!

I agree I should do what I think is right, and I have been all this time (keeping my original name). The difficult part is that my doing my right thing is actually contributing to the misery of the first person in my life. I know I am not directly causing it, and he rather healthily "knows" this as well -- but that knowledge isn't erasing this pain for him. I know I'm not going to do the one thing he really wishes for -- become Mrs. Hisname -- but because I love him and because he tries not to lay this on me, I do ache for his hurt. This is what the therapy will be about -- not so much "what should our names be" as "how can we unload this thing." Thanks so much for your words.

out of a population of 100,000, only 8,000 cared enough to vote on that issue. WalMart would have done good things for that community...

That whole Wal Mart thing confuses me. I can understand how it means something to the community that voted them out, but why was I watching a story about it on CNN? Is it earth shaking in some way that I've failed to comprehend?
Also, thanks for your note last week. ;)

i once had a serious tv addiction. well, really, it was a food network addiction. (beneath the radical tranny cover is martha stewart). i knew all the hosts by voice alone. i knew the food network canada music. i knew the schedule. now i moved and don't have cable. i went through a really hard week, but now i think i'm better off. my mind was turning to mush. but i love barefoot contessa- she's a fag hag and she's a fat woman doing her thing on a cooking show. props to her!
